Leading with Care: Digital Binder
A Trauma-Informed and Equity-Centered Inclusive Leadership Course
Lesson 8 of 9 · Capstone
Applying the Care-Centered Lens to Practice
Bringing the toolkit together to review a practice, respond to a moment, and commit to 30 days of practice.
Lesson Overview
Care-centered leadership rarely happens one concept at a time. A difficult moment may involve an assumption, an access barrier, a change that creates stress, a cultural default, an unclear expectation, and a conversation that still needs more understanding.
The challenge is not remembering which lesson something came from. It is knowing what to notice, which questions to ask, and which tool can help you respond. In this capstone, you won’t learn another set of steps—you will practice choosing and combining the tools you already have.
You do not need every tool every time. Choose the tool that helps you ask the right question for the situation.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
- Review the core principles and tools from the course as one integrated leadership practice.
- Assess an activity, meeting, conversation, policy, or group process through a structured care-centered lens.
- Identify emotional, cultural, access, bias-related, and trauma-informed risks and supports.
- Plan a responsive improvement that protects purpose, safety, dignity, inclusion, and accountability.
- Complete a personal toolkit review and a measurable 30-day practice commitment.
